International Close Protection Operative - Level 3

  The International Close Protection training course is 14 days in duration and is a combination of classroom and practical exercises. It is a rigorous course and all sections of the course must be completed to gain the International Close Protection Certificate. This training course covers the NEW 2015 specification.
The course will cover the following elements:

  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Use of close protection vehicle techniques.
  • Communication and conflict management skills.
  • Venue based security.
  • Introduction to the roles and responsibilities of the close protection operative.
  • Operational planning.
  • Surveillance awareness.
  • Reconnaissance.
  • Close protection foot drill techniques.
  • Route selection.
  • Search awareness.
  • Incidents and dilemmas.
  • Anti and Counter Surveillance.
  • Close Quarter Combat.
  • Defence against Knifes & Firearms
  • Driving skills

If you pass the course you will obtain a Recognised Accredited Certificate in International Close Protection from our Awarding Body and this will allow you to work as a Front Line Close Protection Operative around the world.

This qualification Does not allow you to apply for a UK Sia licence as it does not cover the elements of the UK Law & Legislation that are required by the UK Sia.

If you wish to apply for a UK SIA license – pay particular attention to the section on “right to work”.  https://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Pages/licensing-before.aspx If you fit this criteria then you will need to complete our Full CP L3 Sia training course.

However, this is a qualification that is accepted by organisations worldwide, and is fit for purpose within the Industry, many of those that work on an International basis have chosen this qualification over the UK one as is meets all needs required for the International market and employers that serve it.
This Close Protection course is a minimum of 138 hours and covers all core competencies as set out by the UK Awarding Body and that is relevant to the close protection roll. The course is open to civilians as no prior knowledge is necessary, only the interest to learn and strength of mind to carry it through is necessary.
Due to the high standards that can be achieved on this course, all students who pass the ICP examination, regardless of background, will be able to seek employment within the industry. This can range from low level to high risk work in areas of conflict.

  • As stated above the ICP qualification will not allow you to apply for a UK Sia licence as the course does not cover certain elements which include the UK Law & Legislation, unless you are a UK registered resident and have lived in the UK for 3 years or more then you cannot apply for a UK Sia Licence.
